I can only speak for myself that if something happened to me and I needed legal justice to move on with my life I would definitely take it to court. If, however, I had moved on and didn't need to waste a significant portion of my time and money chasing up persons who no longer had any impact on me, then I would probably choose to focus on my future.

It's a very personal thing and I hope each person does what's right for them to allow them to live happy and productive lives. Others can't fight your battle, each person has to do what's they feel is right for them.
