I am a professional aid worker and good friend of exfamily and co-authored some documents published here. I sometimes google this forum for discussions relating to fundraising activities and charity organizations.
In my work we use the term "compassion fatigue" to describe poor public response whenever we try to raise money for disaster relief. Through detailed analysis and user polls we have determined that compassion fatigue comes from two things.
1. too many disasters in a row
2. awareness or fear of charity fraud or wasteful spendng of donations
I want to commend your efforts to expose fraudulent fundraising by groups such as the Family. You are correct that what they are doing is stealing. They are stealing from people who really deserve the money and resources. They are stealing also from the mind and soul of society, by hardening the hearts of otherwise helpful and concerned givers, turning the goodwill of the public against genuine aid organizations.
