I don't have much to say except, in my posts there was nothing religous about what I wrote. I was talking about my job. My job happens to be in a church. As far as caring for youth, I am a pastor and that's what pastors do. In no way dis I complain that I am not paid for my ministry, it's a statement of fact. This is my first pastoral position since I graduated in Dec. I still work 40 to 50 hrs. a week as a maintenance supervisor at an apartment complex. I would more than love to be able to have 50 to hrs. a week to spend in ministry, not for myself so much, (I do cherish the time I get to work in ministry), but for the young people I have been give the responsibility for. It saddens me when I have to tell the students that I can't participate in a certain activity as I have to work or am on emergency call. I feel I am blessed to have the position I have as it is a real experience for me of practical ministry. Again I am not talking religion I'm talking about my work. Tell me what are you offended by? I didn't start the thread about churches and money, but I believe I have something to add as I have experience in the church arena, as well as being in a cult. They are as different as night and day. I would beg to know if there are any others that have been offended by my sharing about my job with a church or my experience with church finances, both practically and academically. You might want to check a post I did further down about learning from youg people. As youth pastors go I'm old. My couterparts are generally in their twenties, I'm 55, and spent my younger years and a lot of other years in a cult. Let's say we teach each other. In closing could I have your opinion who is a real Christian? Since that would be religous we could have a Theological debate on Journeys, let's say about Christology.
