Well, I'm not a big fan of Bill Clinton--he's what I call "Republican lite"--a Democrat in name only. I'm not convinced he actually created a budget surplus, but at least he bothered to create the impression of a balanced budget by cutting back on spending programs.
I was in graduate school during the Clinton years and didn't pay very much attention to politics in those days. I worked 12-hours shifts on weekends, taught three mornings a week, took classes, and wrote papers. In those days I voted for third party candidates because I thought the process was a sham--still do, so not much has changed. I didn't pay much attention to political news until Clinton's enemies got the bright idea to impeach him for lying under oath about being a fornicator. The man may be a ruthless pig, but his private life is his private life, imo, and he should never have been questioned under oath about whether he diddled someone other than his wife in the oval office. Seemed like an unwarranted $4-million invasion of privacy by the morals police on the taxpayer's dime.
I've read that Clinton should be prosecuted as a war criminal as a result of the bombings he ordered in Yugoslavia and Iraq. Seems like just another US president doing what this country always finds some excuse to do, which is bomb the daylights out of developing countries in the name of national security and protection of our strategic interests.
