If somebody doesn't make a stand that clearly shows the person is not in TF any more, believing them becomes an individual choice. As far as I am concerned, it is not just a matter of having a form letter for exmembers to submit declaring they are not involved in Family business anymore. Berg himself wrote the instructions (see "Invading the Churches") on how to do just that and lie through our teeth.
There is a difference between getting carrots and beats and getting a little-old-lady to donate half a million dollars. Another difference is in the images presented to the grocer and to the little-old-lady. I am sure that if she is still alive she still remembers the scam when the grocer may have already forgotten the specific lies long time ago.
