Public vs. private

I really don't get what the fuss is about. Perhaps your views are related to how much credence/relevance you give his site.

It is within the mission statement of this site to expose scams by The Family International, to give information to the public at large. We don't expect every single small donor who bought a poster to look us up, but many such people you claim to be insiginifacant do find their way to us. It doesn't matter if it's two such people or 2,000 such people or potentially one person who woul know this family. The point is, is it a public or private matter?

People have a right to remove their own info, when it is private. But as mentioned before we deal with people whose names are in the public domain and information which the public has a right to know. If certain people's names are published on our site for good reason, and information about their true affiliations and practices has been made available to the unsuspecting populace, it has become a public matter. If they now want their names removed from this site, then they should approach this site about it, publicly. It is no longer a private matter -- it's a bit too late for that. We have to keep things transparent.

We are not trying to be the central authority on the subject or determine who is contrite or sincere enough to have their names removed. It's really this simple: their names were made public for a reason, on this site. They can make a public statement, on this site, and we're open to helping them move on. What better deal can they ask for?
