Dear Mir...India (Bollywood) produces far more movies than Hollywood...so...no it's not the same movie you saw ; )...although the subject must be very touching too, there are still arranged marriages - and they do seem to flourish...in a way... - still there are "accidents" in the kitchen, where the bride gets literally burned to death, if her parents paid too little dowry to the family of the bridegroom and there are widows, who either deliberately or forcefully join their deceased husband in the flames in the Hindu-death-ceremony and thus in death...it's forbidden, but still happening here & there on the countryside.

I like many Bollywood-productions (real tearjerkers for me...as they idolise in their way pure love), but I recommend Monsoon wedding...which is a low budget movie...I saw also
of the same producer Salaam Bombay & kick(bend it?) it like Beckham...

I saw recently on a theme-evening besides Monsoon-wedding a very touching reportage of a An American female photographer about the children of some of the prostitutes in Calcutta...it was super touching...I think the movie/reportage was shown at the sun dance festival in America...I think her name is Zana...I recorded it & may be I could post a link later...all the best wishing you
