Sorry your experience was so different to mine. Not sure where u were living, but it doesn't seem like it was much fun. Where were you living then? It would maybe make for an interesting debate on the particular aspect of family life. I wasn't aware I was living in such a bubble with the Charter freedoms. For sure no one tried to stop me when I finally left. In fact no one from the leadership in Taiwan even got in touch to ask me why I had left after 30 years.
R you saying you had no freedom to live where you wanted to? Were you able to hand in 30 days notice if you wanted to move to another place? You probably had children, and are you saying you couldn't take them to a doctor when they needed medical attention? I had those freedoms myself. I don't say that as a boast, just thought everybody had them according to the charter.
Let me know if you have any more thoughts. I'm more than open to discussing them.
