How ironic that Berg would accuse Patrick and the deprogrammers of exactly the same things TFI stands accused of doing to its membership.
One of Berg's most genius (of the evil sort) defense tactics was to project his own negative, criminal characteristics onto the System and its minions, such as "fanatical and fascistic religionists". If all the evil is "out there" among our enemies, we don't really have to take a very hard look at our own behavior, do we?
The interesting thing about people who define themselves as "not like them" (i.e., "fanatical and fascistic religionists), is that very often they are describing their own issues by projecting blame onto others.
