Here’s some of Berg’s thoughts about Ted Patrick. I didn’t notice this anywhere on the xFamily page devouted to him so this might be useful to add there. The entire passage in the ML referring to FREECOG is a bit longer. I have only provided two original, unedited paragraphs. Then, I provide the sanitized version as it appears in the COG Pubs section of this site.
As you read the following rant from Berg about Ted Patrick, try replacing the word "FREECOG" with "COG" or "The Family". These passages are far more relevant when applied to The Family then they ever were in their original meaning. State of the World, ML #270, 1973:

That last paragraph is frightening when considered in the context of Ricky’s video. He uses terms similar to “evil beasts” to describe those who raised him, including his mother and Berg. He specifically refers to witnessing the torture of Mene, seeing “huge bruises on her everyday,” and seeking revenge for her and other abused children. [http://www.ishiver.com/]
Also, Chancellor devotes three pages (182-185) in his book Life in The Familyto an account of a deprogramming by Ted Patrick of a Family member in 1971. They kidnapped him off the street and confined him for one week. However, the description of his ordeal pales in comparison to how Berg and Zerby tortured and publicly vilified his own granddaughter for years.
