It is actually worse than that. Aaron had developed a lot of serious doubts over the things he has seen his father DO as opposed to the things that were written in the Scriptures.
Cognitive dissonance only works for a while. In his case the dissonance seemed to rip his psyche apart. You have to remember that Berg was an overwhelming figure. He acted as if he was God with his own family. He bossed his wife around, sexually abused his 2 daughters, and there is a story about Aaron's first wife, David Berg, and some sort of rape allegation. (I would love to hear from primary sources about this one)
When Aaron started coming undone over what his father seemed to really be, he was quickly demonized and ostracized ( much like his daughter later on)
Suicide, or terminating himself must have seemed the only viable alternative to a psychic system based on a all-encompassing father who is the equivalent of God and can do no wrong and a conscience that instead tells you he is a criminal. Did Aaron really have a way out? And how come his own family has never publicly discussed his death? How come his own mother has never talked about this?
From what I hear, News of his death came when Rachel Canevaro was getting married to the Duke in Italy. Is it true that Jane Miller kept quiet and got through the wedding ceremony when she had heard her son was dead?
There are too many pieces in this story that have never convinced me of his family's intent to simply sweep the whole thing under the rug.
If others can add pieces to this story, pls go ahead.
