not all facts. There is plenty of national guard - that was not the problem. There are 7,000 Nat Guard in Louisiana alone.

The problem was in the sudden turn of the hurricane which was abnormal and they had to take time to deploy the national guard. I have 2 sons in the Air Guard - they have lives.

They could have gone, but because it was a volunteer assignment, my one son's employer wouldn't give him leave and the other opted to stay for school. If you understand anything about the national guard you would know that they have regular lives and their service is part time - if they get deployed in an emergency, they have to be contacted and arrangements have to be made - this doesn't happen overnight. Plus they have to find certain units that are needed for certain tasks - for example, my one son is trained in weapons loading, not much use for that in a hurricane situation. I really don't think you are grasping the gravity of the situation and quite frankly, your post is just loaded with political innuendos so to say it's not political is kind of funny.

The levee didn't just break or run over the top, a whole section collapsed which was not anticipated, or it was not in any planned scenario. Maybe that was a fault, but it was not intentional. You'll have to blame the governor of Louisiana for that - a democrat. At this point, there is plenty of blame to go around, but I think the focus should be on what to do now and how to fix our whole legal system that causes all these delays in deploying troops, etc.

Also, the budget wasn't cancelled, it was cut. What happened to the levee, experts admit, is quite possible the extra money wouldn't have made any difference because the repairs wouldn't have helped that total collapse of a 300 ft. section fo the levee. One scientist interviewed said that he doesn't believe the levee system could ever be made strong enough or built up enough to never have this happen again. So, there are lots of opinions on this subject. Try adding again.
