It appears that even Davida was surprised that Zerby did the act that night & from what I read, apparently did it only once.
Berg nearly 'fired' Zerby for disobeying him once in the FFing days, & now that Mene Berg was there at the same time & Zerby worried & insanely jealous of Mene taking her place, she couldn't afford to disobey.
Sure, technically she already believed it was OK by the law of love, but to actually do it is another thing.
I have another question: wasn't Zerby the one who said to Berg, 'Incest is a big, big issue with the Family these days' & Berg said that there was nothing in God's laws against it. Do you suppose that discussion prompted Berg having Zerby incest her own son? You can see how talking about the subject would have got Berg going.
