There are good universities in quite a few locations. Any other reasons you're thinking Charlottesville, VA? It's a bit remote (and with a population of only 45,000). I'm much closer in to DC.
One good thing is that this year VA is 2nd only to Hawaii in State unemployment rates...so the job market is looking up here.
