If the truth be known, Father Nottus, yon brother Jackus' translation, while lacking in the sophisticated turn of Latin phrases that you seem to relish in (indeed, much overmuch, in my mind) did indeed capture in spirit and essence the true meaning of the Latin poem in question. I would suggest you go out in the garden and find an appropriate rose branch to flagellate yourself with to cleanse your thoughts. Latin is a state of mind, remember, not a mere language. Think of Latin dances, for example.
