I enjoy your friendly banter after groaning through the ongoing Achieck/Carol soap opera. But may I answer your queries?
Guilt is just one of them. Former members of a high control group such as TF go through a number of emotional cycles, guilt being one of many. Shame, regret, self-pity, doubt, fear, etc. all take their turn at one time or another, or even all together at the same time which threatens one's perceived equilibrium but also may lead to a catharsis, a much-needed event for transformation to occur. This is when the seemingly unhealthy cycles become healthy. But there is pain attached to this exercise, something that we naturally try to protect ourselves from. To answer your question, yes I do think about these factors and more. I've learnt that when I react strongly to someone (let's say in a negative way), it means that there is a part of me that resonated with that person, a part of me that's "familiar" with that factor that I'm reacting against. If I take this new awareness and do my inner work I not only gain valuable insight about myself but more importantly it enables me to make more responsible choices. For me, that's what recovery is all about. It's a continuous process of discovery and transformation. Sorry, should I go to Journeys now?
