Thanks for clarifying that you are not me, Oh Boy. I've been "biting my tongue for awhile now", so I'm glad you said these things because you've presented it more diplomatically than I probably would've. It's also more likely Don will "hear" these points if they are not coming from me.
I previously told Don that his claim to have fully recovered was startling, but that I would take his word for it. I said so as a gesture of reconciliation, but I regret now that I told him that because he has continued his offensive ways here. And the troubling thing is that he doesn't seem to understand the ways in which he is offensive and insensitive. As you point out, it seems quite obvious from his postings that he is in denial, as I was for many years, and that to observers he clearly still has lots to overcome.
Being in denial in itself, is not necessarily a bad thing, but when he comes here and seems to deliberately provoke and offend people with unnecessary comments then his claim to having completely recovered is a source of harm rather than healing. If he has indeed totally recovered from his cultic experience then he is not coming here for support. If he posts here because he wants to help others achieve the recovery that he claims to have, then he certainly has an odd way of going about it. Maybe seminary school will teach him important interpersonal skills and maybe a little humility too, which I doubt, but nevertheless hope for.
I know it may seem to some that I'm "ganging up" on Don. That is not my intention. I have made previous, purposeful attempts to civilly converse with him because we hold extremely opposite views on many topics. But his words and attitudes here are often incongruous with someone who professes a profound faith in Christianity, as he does. My intention is to merely point out to him some of those inconsistencies.
