Most of the research done by apologists is extremely naive and narrow, imo. The people who have done a lot of useful theoretical work on what you call "power hunger" are the social psychologists who analyze communication patterns in families and larger social organizations, such as the media. Thus far, no one with this level of expert training has been permitted to do an analysis of relationship patterns in TF. Instead, TF recruits history of religion or psychology of relgion scholars, and they look at very narrow aspects of life in the Family.
