Writing for money is good business but it may also reflect the researcher's perspective. Also, most people are ready to believe in the basic goodness of others and to give them the benefit of the doubt. That's why The Family's con works, and the so-called researchers benefit from it too. It is a win-win situation for TF and the mediocre researchers.
I wonder how many of them are actualy academics as opposed to just being principals in some no-for-profit organization that get their money from the same cults they are supposedly studying.
Peer-review is a way to keep quality control in research. I wonder if the bunch just got together and decided to create their own sphere of influence so that they peer-review each other all the while singing the same old song.
