I would certainly be disapointed but I would encourage them to keep reading the Bible and praying and having a relationship with the Lord.
If the person decided to leave his wife and kids to be with someone else it's similar to a man leaving his wife and kids to be with a different woman. Both cases would be wrong. All I could do in such a case is to love with God's love and forgive and try to help with the grandchildren and explain to them that homosexuality is not God's plan and that it's wrong but we're to forgive and keep loving in spite of sin.
Some men are alcoholics and beat their wives and kids other men simply don't give much time to their kids and are selfish. Life is full of sin. All we can do is forgive and keep loving.
