Stacked up against the other Presidents in our lifetime, Reagan definately stands out. To find a better liked President, you would probably have to go back to JFK, and it was easier to like JFK since he only lasted 3 years to Reagan's 8 and got killed in office (Reagan only got shot in office).
His contribution to the fall of Soviet Communism, and the elimination of the Berlin Wall probably put him into the "Great" category in the minds of some.
As a Californian and a former Actor myself, I probably have more of a soft spot for the guy. He made it in Hollywood as a famous actor, something very few who try achieve. Then he became the President of the Screen Actors Guild. Following that, Governor of California, one of the largest, most populated states in the US. Then President of the United States, another acheivement only a small number of people in history have made. He went on to be 93 years old, another birthday almost nobody ever sees.
He was the oldest man to ever hold the office of President of the US. If both Reagan and John F. Kennedy were alive today, Kennedy would still be younger than Reagan.
