It is a long process coming to terms with one's choices in life, particularly when many of those choices were a consequence of living within a warped construction of reality.
========================================
I wish we could get away from the insinuation or direct labeling of FG's as having "chosen" to join a cult. Generally speaking, FG's did not "choose" to join a sex-crazed cult. What many of us DID join was a group of young people who lived in a very controlled environment with the purpose of full time witnessing and with a goal for "winning the world" and "preaching the gospel". Don't worry, this is not a "Journeys" post because I am an ATHEIST now.
The systematic tools used to break down a person's own boundaries (much of which were not there due to having come from backgrounds of abuse) and then after being broken down and convinced that "God" was in and for it all, and then using those tools to turn women towards prostitution, men and women towards pedophiliac behavior, caused separations of natural families and couples: Those tools that systematically devastated us was not something we "chose".
For most of us, imo and in the opinion of some professionals in psychiatry and psychology, FG's were victims just as SG's were, but with some different issues to deal with.
Saying this does NOT invalidate ANY individual of ANY generation's pain.
