I thought he had apologized for posting the email, but I shouldn't speak for him and I have not read every little post that has been written. But if that remains to be his policy, what you say is true, it should be clear with all who deal with him. Perhaps he should have some sort of disclaimer on his website and included in his emails, something that states that all communication with him is considered open for public discussion and public knowledge? Then they would know he is not a priest to confess to. That's what I would suggest, and it would solve the problem.
