It really does appear that years of abuses and then coverups, statements and new revised statements, Berg's supposed confession from the grave, etc. have forced Family leadership to paint themselves in a corner. While Peter and Maria may still sit around giving dictums it appears the ship is sinking and they don't even realize it. The Family as an organization is on its deathwalk.
My only hope is that individual Family members will get off the ship before it goes down. Like I hope especially that they'll take the opportunity of the situation in Brazil to say, "Enough! I'm outta here!"
By the way, did anyone hear this -- that some of the Homes in Brazil have been given back some of their money? Anyone hear that? I can see the sense in it if it's true. From what I read on MovingOn, Brazil and S. Africa have super-tight currency restrictions, re: taking the money out of the country, so WS can't even get their tithes out, so have to plow it back into the Brazilian work. (Of course, I'm sure they've done lots of inventive stuff like buying gold and smuggling it out of Brazil, etc. but that's probably illegal and dangerous too.)
So if they can't take the money out, why not give it back? If they did that, and I haven't heard it confirmed that they have, they must have ulterior motives for it. Like, first they take all their cash, then they return some of it and look so generous and benevolent and caring?? Family leaders are crooked as a dog's hind leg.
