I generally agree with what you wrote, but I like it better when more of the story is told.
A more convincing case was made for Afghanistan, a less convincing one for Iraq. The whole world may run on oil, but some economies consume much more oil than others. The last time I looked, the US consumed a whole lot more than any other nation in the world.
