The critics said the same thing. Check again, that speech was written right after 9/11 at the very time we were contemplating going after the Taliban in Afghanistan. That's what it was about. They already knew then that Iraq was involved. The same protesters were out on the streets even then, but the world didn't get as involved because no one really cared about Afghanistan. France wants its money and a chance to make money off of Iraq by selling weapons, even Russia wanted to make money selling them their weapons since they are so broke. Not to mention the fact that the whole world runs on oil. Last time I looked it wasn't just the U.S. using cars and flying around the world, etc., etc. Everyone wants their finger in the pie and they simply didn't want the U.S. to be the one in control.
