great post, imo. i really do agree w/ you that ultimately there is no getting around the fact that we screwed up. i did find it extremely helpful in the process to get a grip on the dynamics of thought reform and spiritual abuse...to sort of figure HOW we did what we did...but yeah, at the end of the day we did do what we did. and a round of repentance is certainly called for. if you do the altar call i will certainly come forward...
ssu aside, (that being a done deal anyway...) if we care about those folks still in, victims AND enablers all,don't you think that it behooves us to keep in mind the many traps that we know are keeping them in the place they are, and try and approach them w/ an understanding of what is preventing them from grasping the inevitable truth? sometimes i wonder how it is possible for folks who spent so many years in seem to so quickly forget them incredibly difficult process of coming to terms w/ the reality... and deciding to cash in your chips and walk away. 2tim.2:24-26.
