Very well put. And it's not always to just try and suck a person back into the group. They know better than that. But if they can do PR and neutralize a person so that they will never speak a bad word about the Family, they've accomplished their objective.
In my situation, I could very easily meet with people I've known, but as you say, the trust would not be there. I was in and know what the group mindthink is. It doesn't mean I don't like some old friends as individuals, but just that until they're out of the group and well clear of it, they're still carrying out its agenda which is basically to use people in one way or another.
