I know what you mean. I joined the Family when I was 17, very idealistic and impressionable. I was literally swallowed up by the group.
What a hideous crime to defraud young kids like that, like I was, telling them you're one thing but all the time having a hidden agenda which we never found out sometimes for years and by then we were conditioned with the cult's programming. I feel violated and used. They were slick lying salesmen who used me as a pawn, conned me into their racket and basically got 20 years of slave labor out of me.
Like you I hadn't learned many life skills yet. I didn't even know how to drive yet. I've had to learn how to drive at age 37. Is that weird or what?
