Good question. I have a hard time to rate it as I am not good with rating scales, but my experience was like jumping from the fire into the frying pan. This is probably why I want to see people who want to jump seeing landing places when otherwise they would not have them, or would have something more unsafe than no help at all. Starting from square one with no references, resume (didn't know what one was!) No checking account, no drivers license, 3 kids, no work references, no personal references, not even a social security card. And then no relatives for my kids. It was no cake walk! There are those built in family defenses that keep you in when opportunities to leave might arise, but if something were available like PD pointed out, and as resources are listed here, people might make that break...
