The crimes were committed both on US soil and abroad, but the man was on US soil when they case was brought forward. I'm very sorry to hear about your daughters. I realise abuses happen outside of the Family as well, society is not that much better, but what makes me very angry is, not just the abuses which are horrible and sickening and a great crime, is the cover up and lies that are told time after time by the group, and their refusal to turn known offenders over to the authorities. Their pride in thinking they are the " all in all" and that simply exommunicating someone for 6 months is a punishment in itself, meanwhile leaving behind young children who grow up with serious problems to overcome because of atrocities committed against them, pisses me off to tell the truth.
