It is a matter of faith but the question I always wondered about was "faith" in what! I didn't have much trouble leaving the Family when I did because David Berg was not part of my "faith". I had already decided years before that he was just a mere common man with a high verbal ability. He was not a prophet, much less the end time prophet. So I was narrowing my faith little by little onto the target I have now. I do believe the promises of the Bible because I have tested them and have always worked. For me, they have been a light on my path and have strenghtened my faith. Like that old song we used to sing, "He has never failed me yet".
But that is for me and all I can do is point others, even my own children whom I loved more than anything or any body else, to where I got that faith. That is, the Bible. I found that they are real. How can I push my experience on others and make them believe on me when what I would like is to believe on God? This is where most Christians teachings have failed. Preaching the man and giving them a fish is the way to have a nice little cult. Teaching them how to fish is the way to find the Truth of God, each one in his/her own manner but all following those instructions.
To think that only the Bible has the Words of God is not knowing what the Bible says. But to teach that one's own words should replace the Bible is ludicrous and utterly arrogant.
