I just got off the phone with the battered women's abuse hot line. We were talking about that too, how it's really hard to see it for what it is when you're iin the middle of it. Abusers are very clever - they will apologize and swear to change, this is it, they're turning over a new leaf, etc., etc. They're so sorry, etc., etc. They also gain the trust and confidence of their victims, pretend to be so concerned about them. I watched a documentary on sexual predators. It was incredible how much they are so alike and the tactics Berg used were the same as they were discussing in this documentary. Some of these predators will take months or years to get to know their victims and gain their trust.
