Well, at that time of 1979 I was thoroughly entrenched in the F. and would not be able to find my way out of a paper bag. We were only allowed to listen to such things as Air Supply and ABBA.
Wow - that sounds like you really had a hard time there trying to go to college. Mine was similar, but I didn't have a sick child, so that made it a lot easier. The good thing was that welfare paid for day care for the youngest kids and sometimes it was really a nice set up, sometimes it wasn't. But going to college was like a break for me because I had been stuck at home with the kids which seemed like forever with absolutely no outlet. It was like seeing the sunset for the first time, or the big blue sky. I just felt so open and alive and the pressing and depressing issues at home were out of my mind and diverted for the time being. I liked using my mind too, what a novel idea!!!
