Hi Porcelein, that was very good and you always have such a nice way of presenting things (if anything can be nice in this topsy turvy world of the FOL). I agree, the people who made the choice do hold a greater responsibility, that should be a given. But, how much and when it applies, all that becomes more of an individual matter. What you said about wanting to leave because you couldn't make it and because you just wanted to live a selfish life but was afraid of what punishments you would receive in heaven rings so true, I think you understand how many FGAs would stay in spite of their better judgment even though that might not be a good enough excuse, but it explains.
I think of my daughter who confronts me at times with such statements as "Well, Mom, you KNOW there was never any child abuse in the F.!" - all I can do is look at her blank and think how brainwashed she is. She is convinced she is in the best place in the world and doing God's highest calling (whatever stupid thing that means - another way to convince people they are doing something special and can only do it THERE!). It breaks my heart that I brought her in that group and could not take her with me and that she is doing what she is doing today because of it. Is it my fault? I don't know.
