You've got that right! I joined about the same time and left about the same amount of time after. Until a couple of years ago I was reluctant to have anything to do with that period of my life. I was ashamed at the horrible thing the COG/Family had become but eventually had to deal with it.
The silence imposed in the Family is sickening and helps perpetuate their perversions. Even some of their leadership and rank-and-file members are now, as we were at times, denying any involvement with the COG/Family. They are themselves ashamed of their past but unable and unwilling to face it and acknowledge it. The lessons from the top are to denounce any one who tries to revisit that past. Even Davidito has come out towards deliverance into the light of the truth so they are denouncing him as a traitor when all he has done is tell his experience. What cannot be expected from that bunch who try to control by silencing. They are bound to find out that even the stones would scream even as they are trying to silence people.
That is why these site is in place, to provide a space where the voice of the stones can be heard so that men and women are empowered to tell their experience.
