You are right. There are some basic misconceptions and acting on them keeps making the web worse and more complicated.
I mean, gay people in the F did not have a 'remission' from being gay even if they married out of pressure and had kids. I could name a few right off the bat. They still 'fall in love' or have those feelings only for the same sex.
So it is true that a clearer more unambiguous stand on the part of the church could help in the long run because repression, if it does not come from the genuine vocation of the individual will only cause backlash and disaster. After all, for some it may be true that it is better to 'marry than to 'burn.' But then they'd have to become deacons, not priests if they want to be Catholic?
