I do not agree with your opinion that escaping from the evil doctrines of The Family requires fasting and prayer. That is exactly what I didn't require. I needed lots of education, formal and informal, lots of reasoning with a skeptical mind, lots of self-exploration, lots of many things, but certainly not useless fasting and prayer.
