All religious "holy" books that I am aware of have things that aren't so peaceful and cults/extremists seize upon those parts to bring out the worst of their purported religion. The Old Testament is rife with examples. The Quran was written during times of war so you will find militant verses. Christians that are more fundamentalist will talk of a loving God who nevertheless will burn you for all eternity for not accepting their real and only God. So I don't stand with any religion or against anyone's choice of belief except for where it interferes with my rights/ choices. I don't understand your fear of Islam except that maybe you haven't allowed yourself to get to know some Islamists that are not extremists. If you did take time to know them you'd find they are people that laugh, cry, celebrate, mourn and live and die just like any other human being.
