I don't think Americans will elect McCain/Palin. I think the race will be close but there is enough damage done under the Bush administration and no clear plan of how to clean that up from the McCain side. The Republican Party get togethers have turned into cries for killing Obama and accusing him of being a terrorist and even referring to him as an "Arab".
It got so bad that even McCain was booed when he said that Barack is a decent man and capable of being president should he be elected.
I think that was his effort at damage control but very possibly too little too late.
I like Barack's calm demeanor and his understanding of various cultures. There is a tunnel vision of politics that are not willing to think outside of an isolationist box, that created the term "Ugly American" which I think the Republican Campaign for Presidency is reinforcing at this time.
