This youtube video is hilarious political commentary through the Bollywood media perspective.
The Hindi song, "Chori Chori Hum Gori Se" was featured in The Guru, a 2002 British comedy. Here's the movie scene, where the song is identified as "one of those very spiritual, transient things!"
Once you get into the lyrics, the irony of Barak O'Bollywood and The Guru becomes more apparent. Nothing quite like the exaltation of grandiose expectations, when all you were prepared to do is a little light chanting...
Chori Chori Hum Gori Se
(Hindi Lyrics Translation)
Lead:
Very secretly I will love the girl
Very quietly, oh friends, will you say the things my heart desires
Somebody please tell me when is she going to come
I have been looking for her since I don't know when
Please do come
Chorus:
oh my love
come quickly, oh my love
love oh love
bear me upon your shoulders, oh love
Lead:
One of these days she will be found
the girl of my dreams
one of these days I will meet the girl of my dreams
this is how it will all begin
....our love story
my evenings will be colourful too
my mornings will be wonderful too
Response:
oh dear friend, please don't expect to see the stars during the day
no one has ever won in love
every one has experienced only loss
you will come to an end of life
don't make such a mistake
You have not and never ever will find
who you think will be your love
Chorus:
Have a taste of it
experience it
Lead:
The sights are so wonderful
the feelings are wonderful
Chorus:
Aa Aa Aa
Aa Aa Aa Aa Aa
Lead:
The one whom my heart desires
I wonder when is she going to come
Someone to stop me on the roadside
Someone to call out my name
Response:
Oh my dearest friend
please stop
there are so many lovers around like you
you will lose everything
don't live on dreams
no where on the earth
is such a lover for you
Lead:
You go, I will still secretly love her
I will love quietly, oh my friend, tell her of my love
Somebody tell me when will she come
I have been looking her up for so long
Please come, do come....
