Last time Soap Box was active (time flies) it was explosive, to say the least. Now it went dead - or is it only silent?
In any case, it seems to me that maybe the reason of the political topics were not so much because of people's interest in politics but in partisanship due to the election in the US.
So, when I went to visit some friends some of the (USA) border not long ago I found out how broad is the range of points of view about president Chavez. I found the reaction about him of many Venezuelans outside Venezuela to be very similar to that of Cubans out of Cuba with respect to Castro. And yet, he has a strong base of support among Venezuelans in Venezuela.
I wondered many times if Americans outside of the US also see Bush the same way (have negative views of him) whereas Americans in the US support him?
