Spankings and severe beatings and all the variations between really screwed me up and spilled over onto the next generation. For years I would break into a cold sweat and freeze when my girlfriend so much as caressed my cheek. I can say that spanking (not beatings) did my own children more harm than good and they have confirmed this and I have apologized to them for what I subjected them to, all thanks to my not knowing any better due to my own upbringing and then the example set by TFI.
