Research shows that people from all socio-economic backgrounds join cults. No particular demographic is more immune or more susceptible to cults.
Having said that however, TFI while pretending to be concerned about the welfare of the masses, is quite discriminatory and targets certain profiles for recruitment. The ones they tend to go after are educated, have influence and come from middle or upper class backgrounds.
From their earliest COG days, TFI has always made quite a show of what they claim to be concerned about, in order to mask what they're really after. For instance their prophet Berg made a show out of the COG being into reforming drug addicts. But when members actually started believing this propaganda and tried to live up to it and started reruiting drug addicts, Berg freaked out and told them off.
