A very good example in my opinion was Hudson Taylor as being pretty independent...also Georg Müller ...there are plenty...it's not so much about being "independent"...as being genuine, message and lifestyle (ok, some churches are also questionable...another story)...message must be in line with you know what etc...

That's where I distance myself from Albert Schweitzer...one with huge skills, intelligence and training...but faith-wise I have different opinions/takes, as is obvious enough by some "google-efforts"
