Their strange behaviour is typical. I remember living in this giant ranch house outside of Dallas. There were about 35 of us, 8 or 10 adults and the rest were from babies to teenagers. When you have that many people living in a house, it's all self-contained.
Jamie sounds like he's some kind of driver or he's the main guy at the home. The new people are new recruits. This is obviously a more "active" open type of home. If it's "selah", someone needs to tell them to wake up.
What they do all day? The usual stuff. If no one comes out, it sounds like a service home of some sort. If there are lots of teenagers it could be some kind of school or maybe they're even having a special "Camp" as they like to call it when they get a bunch of trainees to come and the read the garbage Maria and Ping keter pump out which is always the same message. If you are in tune with the Lord, He'll bless your finances. That's the basics and they embellish it with rousing talks from whoever and blah blah. Pity them. They must be bored out of their minds and numbed.
