Someone asked you to go to an "oldtimer" meeting, like a reunion? The whole thought of going back to any of that turns my stomach. I already had trouble when I first heard about people getting together for "fellowships." That's far, far too Family-like for me. Meeting someone you knew well and liked for an occasional beer or a BBQ, maybe. Even then, just because you were in the group together doesn't mean a thing. You'd have to get along now, as real people.
I've heard strories about half-ins/half-outs who try to use anyone who was once in the group and are still willing to associate with them. They might ask to stay in your place because they are entitled to use "Systemites" who aren't doing the Lord's "real" work. Then they do you a big favor and use your place as a base for going DTD in your neighborhood, because the reasoning as we know goes, "If you can't do the Lord's work then support someone who is doing it, and you should be honored we decided to use you to help!" Then they even tend to get so permanently camped and cofortable in your home they refuse to leave. What a mightmare! It's a culture of entitlement by a band of users/losers, leeching off of others who are earning an honest living.
About Alain, he, as l'expert suprême en langue francaise, pointed to an article we've had online for years about a court case in France against The Family. The original is in French, and there is a translation below it. He arrogantly accused us of creating a fictional document because the French was obviously incorrect (among other very silly, illogical reasons he gave). Going over document again, I could see that someone without a French keyboard had manually typed and copied the article plus its translation. As a result there were no accents, and there were accidental mistakes in spelling which could be interpreted as incorrect conjugations. But the superior Alain's strong message was: here we didn't even know French and were too obviously trying to manufacture a fictitious report.
