The pitiful thing about India: boys come first in the sense of studies & whatnot & on top of that, the girls family has to pay heavily in dowry in case of marriage to the son in laws parents/family (with the Jews it happened to be the other way around!A thing, which makes more sense to me)...& in case it should not be enough, often the girls/women are heavily harrassed to the point of suicide or "accidents" in the kitchen....tough, very tough for a woman there of the lower classes...even more so, if you happen to be "untouchable"...but Obama will change that...pls.excuse that irony...& then, who knows..I'd certainly be for it.
But I do realise, how difficult it must be for parents to solve a situation like that, if they happen to be in an economically tight situation...paying fees, study material etc. I just wonder, why there are not more welfare organisations in India, to help out...there are people of immense wealth, but since they believe in rebirth, they also believe they deserved all that???...I rest the case.
