why people read too much into things

I do this too. When in TF, and something was said from the top, down, my experience was to try and interpret what was really being said, much as kids in an alcoholic family look for tones, body language, general mood in the air to determine how to survive or react to the given situation.
So when people leave the family, it's natural to be hyper-alert and read into things, for any of us. I don't know what private matter you are talking about, but respect that you want to leave whatever it is alone. Somehow it seems you read into my post that I was picking at something private. I wasn't.
When I say supportive, I don't mean condescending or making people dependent on each other. I only mean that we survived a common disaster carrying away different types and common types of wreckage.
One of the best ways for people to get help can be from each other, as common survivors of disaster. we understand each other in ways people around cannot fathom if they have no comparable experience.
So in that sense, I mean "support", rather than alienation, being shunned or ignored or talked down to because of differing viewpoints.
Did not mean "support" as in "crutch" or as an indication that something is broken which others should fix.
