Well I can certainly appreciate your thoughts on the matter, you do bring up several things that I agree are left out of the discussion when it comes to corporal punishment. I can certainly see why you would say what you say about spanking a child.

This topic will always be a controversial topic and I certainly don't expect to change your mind nor would I want to try. I can agree that at some point we need to introduce a class on parenting may be in high school or collage. I believe that the class should offer effective alternatives to spanking, sometimes people use the method of spanking only because they know nothing else. So maybe if there are other methods taught then other methods will be used.

It certainly could not hurt if we all learned alternative methods to spanking our children. I know that I would have welcomed other options that worked. It seemed like the more I tried other methods the harder my child made things. Fortunately for me my children are 12 and 8 and that phase of their life is over and now using groundings and taking things away from them works just fine.

But at any rate, I feel that as a society we are all working really hard to find the balance between whats the right way and whats the wrong way and yes there is still a lot of work to be done.

Looking back on years before, when children were seen and not heard, my how things have changed. I am sure that years to come we will still be having discussions on whither corporal punishment is the way to go or if it should just be avoided all together.

Either way, it is not an exact science, and their may be a better way of handling things, but i do believe that for the most part the decision should be left up to the parent because again what works for some may not work for another. Also because as an individual everyone learns things differently. That is what makes us all unique.

Here is to looking to a better tomorrow and a wonderful today!!!
